Sleeping on silk has many known beauty benefits. Unlike cotton, which draws moisture from your skin, silk is a natural fibre that keeps your skin hydrated whilst you sleep helping to reduce unwanted bed creases when you wake.
Sleeping on silk also allows your hair to glide smoothly along the pillowcase reducing hair breakage, split ends and frizzy bed hair. We use the highest grade (6A) long fiber mulberry silk, with a thickness of 22 momme and enforce the strictest quality guidelines, including non toxic dyes.

WHAT IS MOMME?

Momme is an old imperial measurement indicating the weight of the silk. The thicker or heavier the silk, the more it drapes, the softer it feels and the longer it lasts.

Unfortunately, less reputable suppliers measure the momme at different stages during the production process, rather than at the end. In other words, they claim a certain momme count but it’s false.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY COTTON PILLOWCASE?

Although your cotton pillowcase may feel soft, tossing and turning throughout the night creates friction that can be damaging to the hair follicle, resulting in frizzy locks. Cotton cannot help but absorb our night creams and serums, thus reducing their effectiveness. Cotton also absorbs moisture from your face and hair, thus giving you a messy bed head and sleep creases in the morning. Silk on the other hand, doesn’t absorb these serums due to its anti-absorbent property and helps your hair and skin glide on it which causes less friction.

WHY NOT A SATIN PILLOWCASE?

Technically, ‘satin’ isn’t a fabric; it’s a finish. The term ‘satin pillowcase’ is a misleading abbreviation that has occurred over the years, which generally means synthetic satin pillowcase. Synthetic satin (e.g. polyester) may feel nice and soft in your hand, but after an 8 hour sleep your hair and facial skin can really feel the difference.

HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF THE PILLOWCASE?

Hand wash in cold water (below 30℃/85℉) at least once a week. Never use bleach (stick to the gentle, sudsy stuff) and never pop it in the dryer (leave it to air dry and iron-steam it on low heat, or palm it off to your favourite dry cleaner, if you want to).The better you care for it, the better it will care for you.
